AMERICAN superstar Karyn White has been in Mzansi for more than a week and she couldn't be happier.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, the star revealed she was so in love with the country that she would even consider moving here and finding a Mzansi man.

The Superwoman hitmaker was in South Africa for the four-day Mahika Mafikeng Festival, which she was headlining on Sunday, 10 December.

She revealed she was looking for love when the SunTeam asked her which song was the soundtrack of her life right now.

"It will have to be Snoh Aalegra I Want You Around because I want someone around. I haven't found the right one but who knows, I might find him here in South Africa?" said the singer.

The 58-year-old, who rose to fame in the late 80s and is celebrating 35 years in the industry this year, also revealed her health challenges.

"I was vegan but I fell off. Your wires need to be super strong to stick with it. I had acid reflux around my vocal cords while I was on tour in the states. I was told I had a lot of acid and so I stopped eating foods with a lot of acid. This happened two months ago so I had to cut out everything. I had follow an alkaline diet. When this affected something like my voice, I had to do it."

Karyn said she's fine now, just from changing her diet, adding that people don't realise that food can keep you alive and even take you out.

"This is especially true in the states (USA) because we have a lot of processed food and the food isn't really that good for us," she said.

Asked if her voice has changed since the start of her career, she said: "Heck yeah. My voice is so much more fuller, warmer and my range is higher. I take voice lessons too. I've been taking opera and feel I should include it in my next project."

The star had fans dancing and singing along to her classics at the festival, which got off to a rocky start as there was a heavy downpour of rain.

The rain affected the sound as cables were damaged, but that was quickly fixed.

By the time the likes of Malaika's Tshedi Mholo, Judith Sephuma, Karyn, Mdu Masilela, Thebe and Vusi Nova performed, the skies were clear again.
