This choice of wardrobe symbolised a meaningful embrace of local heritage, resonating strongly with the festival's celebration of African identity.

The 50-year-old star is known for her seminal 1998 solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which won five Grammys.

Her kids, Zion and YG, have followed in their mum's footsteps and now have hit songs that make the crowd go wild.

During her set, Lauryn performed several of her classic hits, but a standout moment came with her rendition of Killing Me Softly.

She uniquely remixed the song by infusing it with Mzansi flair, blending the smooth melody with the infectious beats of Uncle Waffle's Zenzele.

The performance was further energised by dancers performing the popular bacardi dance, adding a lively and local vibe to the stage.

"I have two young women who live in Joburg, and we have a special version of Killing Me Softly," Lauryn said.
