SCORPION Kings address breakup speculation.
The amapiano duo of DJ Maphorisa (37), real name Themba Sekowe, and Kabza De Small (32), real name Kabelo Motha, popularly known together as Scorpion Kings, has broken its silence following ongoing social media speculation about a possible fallout.
Speculation of a rift between the duo gained traction after fans noticed they had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
DJ Maphorisa also reportedly deleted Kabza's photos from his profile.
Many fans read this as tension.
However, speaking to Daily Sun, the duo dismissed the claims, spoke of its working relationship and reassured fans that their bond remains strong.
"We've inspired each other and shifted perspectives, but above all, we're connected by music. Like yin and yang, we fit perfectly. Beyond the work, we've built a brotherhood with a shared mission: to change our lives and those around us," they said.
They said over the years, Scorpion Kings have helped shape and popularise amapiano, both locally and internationally. They reflected on the genre's global rise.
"Amapiano was once seen as a passing trend, but it's shattered expectations and has taken the world by storm. Being at the forefront of this movement is humbling and deeply inspiring, not just for us but for everyone ekasi. It's proof that the world truly is our oyster," they said.
Both artists are currently focusing on solo projects through their respective labels, Kabza with Piano Hub and Maphorisa with Blaqboy Music.
Despite working independently at times, the duo recently hinted at a new joint project titled Kings Will Rise. This has sparked excitement among fans who are eager to see them reunite on stage and in studio.
Scorpion Kings have reassured fans about one thing: The music, and their brotherhood, is far from over.
