ACTOR and musician Ntobeko Sishi reveals painful past.
Ntobeko, who is renowned for playing Ntokozo on the popular TV drama Gomora, said the role has left him with emotional scars.
Speaking on the Inside Show podcast with George Avakian, the 27-year-old actor shared how he lost his mum at a young age and was later rejected by his dad.
"I lost my mum when I was six. That was when we were on the up and up of wealth, I guess. Then after that, I was with my dad," he said.
Ntobeko said things took a painful turn when his dad denied him and sent him away.
"He switched up and was like, ‘Dude, you're not my son,'" he said.
"He put me on a flight. I was about 10 years old, alone at Durban Airport, not knowing where to go."
Ntobeko had hoped to see his dad again, but that never happened until he received a message years later.
"I got an Instagram DM saying, ‘Our dad's in the hospital'. I didn't even know who it was, maybe my older brother? They told me where he was in Pretoria, and I went (to see him)."
Ntobeko finally got to see his dad, who was seriously ill at the time.

"As angry as I was, I couldn't say anything. He was hooked to machines," he said.
"I forgave him. I told him that."
He admitted that the rejection had played a big role in his life, and it took him a long time to heal.
"Rejection has been a huge part of my life," he said.
"Letting go of that pain and trying to make it had an impact on me. It's been the biggest challenge."
Despite the emotional journey, Ntobeko is finally at peace with the past.
"I constantly tried to fit in. Now, I'm at a place where I realise I'm not wanted, and that's okay. I'm going to go where I want to be," he said.
