FORMER Isibaya actress is returning to the small screen.
Mampho Brescia has just bagged a role in Soft Life, a new Showmax Original, which is set to premiere on Monday, 18 November.
The 46-year-old actress, who has also starred in Jacob's Cross, Zero Tolerance and Savage Beauty, will play Zam, the owner of NubiaBlaq, a cover for an escort agency.
This is her first series since she played Iris in Isibaya.
"I'm so excited about being on the small screen again and connecting with the South African audience. I'm also excited that Soft Life will be on Showmax. I feel like the platform is representative of Africa as a continent and the diversity that is our nation," Mampho said.
She said she loved her Zam character while reading the script.
"To me, Zam is a hustler. She's created her own world to succeed and thrive in and will do whatever it takes to sustain the lifestyle she wants. She's a bit sordid and morally corrupt.

"Zam's way of life gives for a really rich character because you then wonder why? What happened to her? Why would she decide to embark on such an interesting career path? But you then come to realise she's a woman who's found herself in a world that's been controlled by men and so she's asserting her femininity and her role as someone powerful and not be controlled," she said.
Mampho said Soft Life, starring Nambitha Mpumlwana, Katlego Lebogang and Zizipho Buti, will be interesting to watch, especially from a woman's perspective.
"There's been this need for women, in particular, to live a soft life, but how to get that soft life has just been twisted, especially with the erosion of the family unit. There's this quote I once saw that said, ‘We're all w***s. Men and women. It just depends on what part of you you're selling. Whether you're selling your soul, body or mind, we've all found ourselves in a race where everyone is selling something in exchange for that soft life.'
"For me, the quote is also a reminder not to judge the character based on my personal beliefs but give her the right to live her truth."
