SINGER and songwriter Langa Mavuso has always wanted to share his journey with his fans through his authentic sound.

The Joburg-based musician, whose real name is Nkosinathi Nhlakanipho Mavuso, will celebrate his seven years in the industry by giving his fans the sound that they know him for.

Langa Mavuso said it is essential for every artist to remember why they started and stay true to their original sound.

The All of Me hitmaker said though he faced challenges in the music industry, he is happy that his loyal fans stood by him, and that is the reason he is operating from an honest place.

He is known for his hit songs Sunday Blues, Mvula, Love Lost, and Intliziyo, among others.

The singer said the music industry is a challenging yet fulfilling space.

"The work of creating albums and songs that resonate with people isn't easy. Especially, when you do it from an honest and vulnerable place.

"The past seven years have been incredibly fruitful in the kind of love received for my music and the live performances created. It also comes with many lessons on self-assurance, trust, and fearlessness," he said.

The musician said the greatest lesson at this time has been self-trust.

Langa released a single titled Best Friend on Friday, 5 July.

"I think that's why Best Friend is an extension of a sound that I began to explore on my first album with songs like Panther, All of Me, and Cheat Code. I've always loved the idea of sharing an emotional message in a way that feels light and honest."

Langa said the song embodies a hopeful nature toward love and the possibility of healing.

"The release was inspired by the idea of hopefulness for new life and love. The song explores the idea of facing our fears and wounds," he said.

"This season is about newness, letting go of sadness, grief, and pain, allowing in light, joy and love again."

The singer said the album explores the disappointment and loneliness of grief and loss.

Langa added that people must watch as he re-emerges into a place of healing and love through prayer, acceptance, fun, and exploration.

"Supporters and listeners can expect an album to be filled with authenticity and healing. It bares all and allows the listener in on the uncomfortable and messy work of finding your way back to yourself through truth, love, and God."
