A gruesome act of violence has sparked a movement for change!

A GRUESOME act of violence has sparked a movement for change.

The National Men's Forums of South Africa, including the Eastern Cape Men's Movement, Men's Sector, and SONGE Social Change ("Social Change for Social Justice"), will lead a shutdown protest in Matatiele on Saturday, 5 April.

The march will start at the Public Safety Office and proceed to the Matatiele Police Station, demanding urgent action against the ongoing violence, rape, and abuse of women and kids.

This protest follows the horrific rapes of seven-year-old girls, Cwecwe and Alu, which have highlighted the urgent need for justice and protection for vulnerable children.

Speaking to the Daily Sun, prominent figures in the Mzansi entertainment said their piece about the march.

Musician Tebogo Lerole said that it's the saddest day to see the victims walking around and seeing these perpetrators walk in the streets.

"This demonstration is taking place within key institutions, whether it's SAPS or our courts. The more we highlight these cases, the more they are brought to light and lead to convictions. It would be heartbreaking to see victims forced to live alongside perpetrators who walk free," he said.

He further mentioned that part of this initiative is about raising awareness, educating communities, and supporting programmes that address GBV.

"In Gauteng, we are fortunate to have the capacity and support to push these efforts forward, but many communities lack resources. By reaching out, we empower them with knowledge and strategies to fight for justice," he said.

Bheki Ngcobo, known as Ihashi Elimhlophe, and Linah Mhlophe have also voiced their support for the march.

"We need justice to prevail. The perpetrators must face the full force of the law," said Linah.

Protesters are demanding accountability from law enforcement, calling for the immediate removal of Colonel Sthonga, whom they accuse of failing to combat these crimes effectively.

A petition will be handed over to the South African Police Services (SAPS) on the day.
