FUNANANI Mulaudzi (25) from Lwamondo Ha Gelebe in Limpopo was allegedly stabbed to death with a knife by a stranger.
The incident happened on Sunday, 19 November at about 3am.
It's alleged that the victim, who was with some people at a local tavern, was killed on his way home after trying to question a stranger.
Police responded to a murder complaint at Tshilidzini Hospital and found the male victim with a stab wound to his upper body.
According to a witness, the deceased had expressed concern about the theft of cables in his village when he encountered certain people.
"He asked us who those people were because there are izinyoka in the village who steal cables. One of the suspects told him that he was talking too much and then stabbed him," the witness said.
Speaking to Daily Sun, the family's spokeswoman, Zelder Mulaudzi, expressed shock at the incident.
"We're heartbroken by the way he was killed, and we hope that the police find the suspect so that we can get closure. He was a good man to the family, and we will forever miss him," Zelder said.
Suzan Luvhengo, the community chairwoman, expressed concern about the rising crime rate.
"Many young people are dying in our neighbourhoods and some are being hit by cars coming from taverns. They sneak into the taverns while their parents are sleeping and we are against the government allowing liquor shops to open until 2am," she said.
Limpopo police spokesman Hlulani Mashaba confirmed the incident.
"The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Police have launched a manhunt for the unknown suspects," Mashaba said.
Anyone with information that can help apprehend the suspects is urged to contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station or MySAPSApp. The police investigation is ongoing.
