A PASTOR (54) has been sleeping with one eye open since he was nearly killed by ruthless thugs on Sunday, 17 December 2023.
He told Daily Sun that he hasn't felt safe since the incident as he doesn't know why he and his friend were shot at.
The pastor from Enkanini squatter camp in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, said if it had not been for his friend's mobile toilet, he would have been dead.
He told Daily Sun that he had been visiting his friend and was sitting with him in his garage when they noticed three suspicious-looking men outside the yard.
"We saw the men and then suddenly heard gunshots. I hid in the toilet while my friend was lying on his stomach," the pastor said.

The friend said was still in shocked by the incident.
"I am neither a taxi owner nor a bad person. I am just a bus driver. Why did they come to my shack and shoot at us?" he said.
When the SunTeam visited his shack, it was riddled with about 23 bullets.
"Cops took a long time to arrive. Out of fear, I finally left my shack with my family because we are all still wondering why me," the man said in tears.
His neighbour said: "We as a community are still in shock. The owner of the shack is a bus driver. So we are still wondering why the gunmen came into his house. We thank God that no one was hurt. We heard gunshots that sounded like rain, so we hid."
Provencial police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twiggy said Harare police have registered a case of attempted murder for investigation following a shooting that took place on Ntlazana Road in Nkanini, Khayelitsha on 17 December at about 5:15pm.
"We can confirm that no one was injured. The suspects fled the scene and have not yet been arrested," Twigg said.
He urged anyone who knows anything about the shooting to contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
