Alexandra taxi boss Molefe Victor Moekeletsi (52) was shot dead in a planned execution in Marlboro.

THE family of slain Alexandra taxi boss Molefe Victor Moekeletsi (52) says the killing was no random hit, but it was a carefully planned execution.

Family spokesman Reuben Mahlagare revealed that there had been previous attempts on Moekeletsi's life.

"Some time back, there was an attempt on his life, so he had security. But you know, these things do happen. We always knew that with the kind of work he was doing, there's always a possibility. But we never thought he'd be attacked like this," he said.

Reuben described Moekeletsi as a family man who adored his wife and kids and worked tirelessly to provide for them.

"The family is shattered. Molefe was a hard worker, a pillar in the family. We're still trying to process what has happened," he said.

ARMSTA spokesman Tladi Lepolesa said they would not speculate on the motive.

"We'll leave that to the police to investigate. Moekeletsi was a very jolly, wise person. We are in disbelief," he said.

Cops confirmed that Moekeletsi and another man were killed in a hail of bullets in Marlboro, near Alexandra, on Thursday, 30 October 2025.

Acting Gauteng police commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana said investigators had already found the suspects' getaway car.

"We found blood in the BMW's driver's seat. We're appealing to hospitals, clinics, and surgeries to report anyone who comes in with a gunshot wound. It might be one of our possible suspects," Kekana said.

According to police, two vehicles, an Audi and a Mahindra bakkie, were driving along 8th Street when they were ambushed by unknown suspects in a white BMW X5.

"The Audi driver and a passenger in the bakkie were declared dead on the scene. Three others were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds, while two civilians were injured after their car collided with the Audi during the chaos. The BMW was later found abandoned a few kilometres away," said Kekana.
