GAUTENG has been facing water interruptions lately, but no one thought someone could die over it.
But Siphiwe Matshika lost his life after he was allegedly stabbed by a mfundisi on Tuesday, 4 April over water.
The 30-year-old, who died later that day, was allegedly stabbed after an argument over water and now Etwatwa residents in Ekurhuleni want justice for him.
After the incident, residents assaulted the mfundisi, who has since been arrested.
Residents claimed that the mfundisi has been problematic.
They said the community has been drawing water from a fire hydrant in the street as there's no water in the arae. They said the tap is in front of the yard where the mfundisi lives.

"He controls it and as we queue, he jumps and demands to get water. When we complain, he draws out his knife," said a resident.
Another resident said: "People are afraid of him because he a bully."
Siphiwe's brother, Banele, alleged that the mfundisi injured a woman with a knife the day before his brother was stabbed and she sustained minor injuries.
"He always yields a knife and there was a time residents disarmed him, but we don't know where he got the one he used to kill my brother.
"He used to go around saying he has been to prison for murder and for him, killing a person is nothing," said Banele.
Daily Sun visited the woman who was allegedly stabbed, but she refused to comment.
Sergeant Khensani Mathebula said the suspect made his first court appearance on Monday, 17 April and will appear again on 2 May.
