Three men aged 21, 22, and 36 were shot dead in Tafelsig after a Rastafarian festival.

POLICE are investigating a triple murder.

This after three men were gunned down in Tafelsig, Cape Town, on Sunday night, 7 September.

According to police, the victims had just returned from a Rastafarian festival when they were ambushed. Unknown gunmen opened fire, killing them in cold blood.

The shootings happened just before midnight on Bayern Munich Road.

Two bodies were found at the scene when officers arrived. A third victim later died at a nearby hospital. The victims were aged 21, 22, and 36.

Police spokesman Colonel André Traut confirmed the killings.

"Preliminary information suggests the victims were returning home from a Rasta festival when they came under fire from unknown gunmen. While the motive is still under investigation, the possibility of the incident being gang-related has not been ruled out," said Traut.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Tip-offs can also be submitted anonymously through the MySAPS mobile application," Traut added.

The murder list grows

The murders add to a growing list of violent incidents across the Cape Flats. Gang-related shootings have flared up in recent months, with Mitchells Plain being one of the hardest-hit areas.

On Wednesday 3 July 2025, five people were shot in one day during separate attacks at spaza shops in the area.

Violence has also spilled over to neighbouring suburbs.

On Friday, 5 September, a man was shot and killed on the premises of the Athlone Magistrates Court.

Police linked that incident to gang activity. Less than an hour later, two more people were shot and wounded near the Abdurahman Clinic in Athlone.
