FUNERAL gunman in hot water.
A 33-year-old man was nabbed after allegedly shooting at a funeral service in Motherwell, Eastern Cape on Saturday, 21 March.
Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said the suspect was bust for unlawful discharge of a firearm and possession of an unlicenced firearms and ammunition.
Van Rensburg said members of the Motherwell SAPS Technical Response Team (TRT) acted on information about a possible shooting at a funeral in NU 10, Mbaza Street.
"While conducting a waylay operation, officers spotted a white VW Polo Vivo whose driver allegedly fired shots at the homestead where the funeral was held.

"The suspect was intercepted, and upon searching the vehicle, members recovered two 9mm pistols with serial numbers removed, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, and two empty cartridges," she said.
Van Rensburg said the suspect couldn't provide a licence and was arrested.
"The vehicle was also confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear in the Motherwell Magistrates Court on charges of possession of unlicenced firearms, possession of unlicenced ammunition, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place," Van Rensburg said.
Nelson Mandela Bay district police commissioner Major-General Vuyisile Ncata praised members for their swift response, saying such actions prevent further violence and strengthen SAPS' commitment to community safety.
