IN 2017 when her younger brother Francis Makhalemele was shot dead, her family performed rituals before he was buried.
Mamotshehare Makhalemele said this was to prevent another relative from dying from the barrel of a gun.
On Saturday, 16 September, the family was left reeling in shock and disbelief when Mamotshehare's elder brother Thato Mohlakoane was shot dead at a tavern in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni.
This time, she said they decided not to perform any ritual and are leaving everything in God's hands.

She said her elder brother Thato (41), who was a firefighter, was also shot dead along with nine other people at a tavern in Daveyton.
Thato and three other victims - Moses Ntshangase (40), Mlungisi Mabaso (42) and Jankie "Smiley" Maphanya (53) - were laid to rest at Phumulani Cemetery in Etwatwa on Sunday, 24 September.
Mlungisi was buried in KZN, while the family of Moses Ntshangase held a separate service for him at his home in Daveyton.
Mpho Maphanya, the late Jankie's niece, said Jankie and Thato were very close.

Morena of Basotho people in Daveyton, Mokhethi Molapo urged the Basotho to encourage dialogues and stop using guns.
"We are tired of these fights. Too much blood has been spilled," he said.
The last Friday and Saturday, 15 and 16 September, there were shootings believed to be related to Basotho zama zamas.
Some residents told Daily Sun last week that one kingpin from Cloverdene had allegedly invaded the territory of kingpins in Qalabotsha, Daveyton.
A Kingpin identified as Moruti from Cloverdene allegedly went to collect protection fees from zama zamas in Qalabotsha. And it angered his rivals who believed he was greedy.
The rival kingpins went on to hunt the Cloverdene kingpin and found him in a shack in Qalabotsha with three other people. The suspects shot and killed them and went to search for others. This is when they opened fire at a tavern, killing innocent people - three of whom were firefighters based at Benoni Fire Station.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela of Ekurhuleni district police confirmed 10 deaths and said police were investigating cases of murder.
She said four bodies were found in an open space and six near the tavern.
Brigadier Brenda Muridili of Gauteng police said no suspects have been arrested as yet.
