A WINDY afternoon in Durban, KZN has resulted in expensive damage.

This is because 10 cars caught fire and they all burnt down.

The day started with a heatwave across Durban, and later heavy winds followed.

The 10 cars were gutted after a bush fire spread rapidly due to heavy winds on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Tongaat, north of Durban on Saturday afternoon, 30 September.

"Reaction officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 2.36pm. Ten cars parked on the side of the road were engulfed in flames," Barlam said.

He said the vehicles belonged to customers of a Park and Fly business. Three other cars were damaged by the heat.
