KING Misuzulu is set to make history by establishing a young amabutho (Zulu warriors).
The young Zulu warriors will be unveiled during the battle of Isandlwana commemoration, which will be held at Isandlwana battlefield in Nquthu, KZN on Saturday, 27 January.
It will be the first time King Misuzulu establishes new Zulu warriors and the third time he hosts the battle of Isandlwana commemoration.
The last Zulu warriors were established by the late King Goodwill Zwelithini in 2019 during Umkhosi Wokweshwama held at Enyokeni Royal Palace and they were called Omvuleni.
The Zulu monarchs have many different amabutho with different names, grouped in different years by different kings. The Amabutho are known as the defenders of the throne.
Prince Simphiwe Zulu, who is leading the commemoration preparations, said: "The king is worried about young boys who are gallivanting and know nothing about their culture. Many of them are raised by single mothers and if they misbehave, there are no men to reprimand them and show them the way."

Prince Simphiwe, who also represents King Misuzulu in the House of Traditional Leadership, said that they hope the young boys will be nurtured into better men.
Umzinyathi District Mayor Rev Petros Ngubane said they not only appreciate that the king will establish new warriors, but that he will set foot again in the district.
"We're proud that we have Isandlwana battlefield in our area and we want government to turn it into a World Heritage Site," he said.
