Ramathuba said women should never allow relationships to interfere with their responsibilities or put their kids’ future at risk.

LIMPOPO Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has warned women not to let romance rob their kids of a better future.

Ramathuba was speaking during the handover of a newly built house to the mum of the conjoined twins, Nokuthula Sithole (28), in Lulekani under the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality on Wednesday, 8 July.

During her keynote address, the premier said women in leadership often become vulnerable to men, particularly "Ben 10s" who shower them with compliments for personal gain.

"I know us as women, because I'm also a woman. Men will tell you how beautiful you are. They'll praise you, not because you've changed, but because they want something from you. Don't lie to me. I know how it works," she said.

Ramathuba said women should never allow relationships to interfere with their responsibilities or put their kids' future at risk.

"The downfall of many women in leadership is that we allow ourselves to be distracted. You are given power and responsibility, then someone comes into your life and everything changes."

She also urged beneficiaries of government assistance to protect assets meant for their kids.

"This house is for your children. Nobody who has ever contributed to it should think they have a claim to it. The way you say thank you is by protecting what has been given to your children," said the premier.

Her remarks were met with loud applause from community members, as she encouraged women to stay focused and safeguard their kids' future.
