MEMBERS of the African Congress for Transformation (ACT) are trending for all the wrong reasons.

On Saturday, 20 January members were seen on video allegedly beating up a 44-year-old well-known man in Virginia, the Free State.

In the video, a man can be seen lying on the ground and allegedly being kicked by ACT members wearing party T-shirts.

The man was reportedly hospitalised with unknown injuries after being physically assaulted during the Ace Magashule rally in the Lejweleputswa region. ACT is a party formed by Magashule.

It's alleged that Magashule was busy throwing T-shirts to the participants of his rally and the victim threw back a T-shirt.

The T-shirt allegedly hit Magashule in the face and that didn't sit well with him and the party members.

Police spokesman Captain Stephen Thakeng said: "We can confirm that on the Saturday at about 7.30pm, a well-known politician and his entourage were distributing T-shirts of their organisation in Thabiso Makoko Street next to a well-known shisanyama business premise when one of the shirts landed on him."

"A 44-year-old Meloding man then threw the T-shirt back to them in the car and it then covered the well-known politician's face.

"He then got out of the vehicle accompanied by his bodyguards and allegedly assaulted the complainant. He sustained injuries to his face."

Thakeng said that a case of common assault was registered with the Virginia cop shop on Sunday, 21 January.

ACT spokesman Kwezi Ntlemeza did not respond to the Daily Sun's media enquiry and did not take calls after the team tried tirelessly to get a comment before publication.
