CHRISTINA Manamela who went missing on Thursday, 15 February has been found alive.

The 21-year-old from Ga-Manamela Village in Moletjie outside Polokwane was last seen when she left her home on her way to Capricorn TVET College, Seshego campus to attend lectures.

Her family became worried when she didn't return home and several attempts to contact her on her cellphone were unsuccessful as her phone went straight to voicemail.

Christina was found on Tuesday, 20 February with the help of Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism (SCACAG) and e-hailing operators.

Her sister, Dorris said the family was relieved to find her alive.

"We were fearing the worst because of all the bad things that are happening these days. Most people who go missing are later found dead. What we feared most is the issue of human trafficking, so we're fortunate that she is now with us, and we are happy that she is alive," she said.

Asked about how Christina was doing, Dorris said: "She's traumatised and I can't talk too much about that at the moment."

According to SCACAG chairman, Vincent Kunutu, Christina allegedly escaped from a Quantum allegedly used by a syndicate to kidnap women and girls.

"Please stop hiking. There's a Quantum used by a syndicate to kidnap women and girls. She escaped leaving more than 20 girls behind. The Quantum is operating between Ga-Manamela, Mmotong and Bloodriver in Moletjie," he said.

He said the story is traumatic.

"Police, social workers and psychologists are involved in this matter. Please stop hiking, especially women," said Kunutu.

Capricorn TVET College spokesman Madire Mashabela said they're pleased to announce that the missing student has been found.

"We want to assure the public that she's now accommodated in a safe space. We send gratitude to everyone who came forward to help reunite Christina with her loved ones. We will avail holistic help interventions to support the student," said Mashabela.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they don't have any records of the case.

"Any new information will be attended to should it arise," he said.
