A 67-YEAR-OLD dad from Kanana near Orkney, outside Klerksdorp in the North West, has accused cops of negligence.

This after his youngest son allegedly terrorised the family for years before finally being arrested.

Mkhulu Kabelo Seitebogeng told Daily Sun his 26-year-old son, whom he suspects is using drugs, has been violent since 2023, repeatedly attacking his 39-year-old brother and threatening to kill both him and his sibling.

"The most recent incident happened on Monday, 9 February 2026, when he stabbed his older brother in the head with a knife."

He said the victim suffered grievous bodily harm.

The madala said the suspect also sprayed both him and the injured son with pepper spray, smashed a window and fled the scene.

The family claims despite calls for help, no police or the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the day of the attack.

Mkhulu Seitebogeng said cops failed to act even after a warrant of arrest was obtained from the Orkney Magistrates Court.

"The investigating officer told me he was overwhelmed with other cases dating back to September 2025," he claimed.

He said this was not the first violent incident.

"In March 2025, my son assaulted his brother badly. A case was opened, but it was later struck off the roll because the detective failed to bring the docket to court," he alleged.

The dad also described disturbing behaviour at home

"He turned his bedroom into a slum-like place. He kept a wooden object he seemed to worship and even put food in front of it. He also stole and sold my valuables," he said.

The suspect was only arrested four days after the February attack, following a media enquiry to the police.

North West police have rejected claims of inaction.

Police spokeswoman Adéle Myburgh confirmed that a case of contravention of a protection order was opened after the complainant reported the assault, and the suspect fled.

"The investigating officer obtained a statement from the victim and collected the medical report from the clinic," said Myburgh.

She explained that injured victims are issued a J88 medical form, which must be completed by a doctor and used as evidence in court.

Myburgh said the suspect initially evaded arrest but was later traced and arrested at about 2am on Friday, 13 February 2026.

The suspect appeared in the Orkney Magistrates Court.

"The victim was kept informed throughout the investigation. Police management remains committed to rendering a professional service to the community," added Myburgh.
