"This follows a suspected burglary wherein on Monday, 27 April 2026 at around 12pm, a member of the SANDF discovered a break-in at a storeroom upon returning from an official funeral in Mahikeng in North West.
"The burglar door had been forcefully opened, and preliminary findings indicate that 3x R4 rifles and a grenade launcher were stolen. The SANDF is currently verifying if any additional equipment or items are missing," said Rawlins.
Brigadier General Rawlins further said that it's suspected that access to the premises was gained by cutting a hole in the perimeter fence, and afterwards, empty SANDF equipment boxes were discovered in the nearby bushes.
"The investigation is currently underway, and progress regarding the case will be communicated in due course," said Rawlins.
