A PRIMARY school teacher has been shot dead in what his family believes was a planned assassination.
Tshepo Mankge (54), a teacher at Barcelona Primary School in Ekurhuleni, was killed on Monday morning, 13 April, on his way to work.
Seven bullets were fired into him before his killers fled.
Police confirmed that nothing was stolen, strengthening the family's belief that this was a hit.
It wasn't the first time someone tried to kill Tshepo.
Five years ago, hitmen shot through his bedroom roof while he and his wife, Puseletso, were sleeping. She was hit by a bullet meant for him and survived.
"This time they wanted to make sure he was dead," his daughter said, who can't be named for safety reasons.
Puseletso was called to identify her husband's body. She is devastated by his death.
Tshepo had been teaching for more than 20 years.

His daughter said he was a mentor who helped her with maths and life science.
"He was like a friend to me. He always encouraged us to work hard," she said.
His niece, Doreen Mankge, is calling for justice.
"All we want is justice for my brother. We wish the police could find his killers," she said.
Etwatwa police commander Colonel Patrick Qangase confirmed no arrests have been made. The motive is under investigation.
Department of Education spokesman Onwabile Lubhelwana declined to comment, saying it's a police matter.
