THE hearing of prophet Shepherd Bushiri's extradition case will continue on Tuesday, 12 March, in the Lilongwe Magistrates Court in Malawi.
The self-proclaimed prophet and his wife Mary appeared in court on Monday, 11 March, where their lawyers started cross examining the state witness who is a South African director of Public Prosecutions in Gauteng, Sibongile Mnzinyathi.

Before the cross examination could begin after numerous postponements, the Bushiris' lawyers, Advocate Wapona Kita and Advocate Alicia Roos, who previously represented the Bushiris in Mzansi, requested proof of the extradition request from the state.
They argued that there would be no need to proceed with the case if the original document did not exist.

The state presented the original documents, which allowed the matter to proceed.
The defence lawyers argued before the Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza on how South Africa have in more than 21 instances tampered with the evidence and doctored it to fit its narrative.
The Bushiris are wanted in Mzansi after they skipped bail and fled to their home country days after they were released in jail for their fraud and corruption charges in November 2020.
Mzansi has been hard at work, trying to get the couple back to Mzansi to face the music.
Reacting to the first day of the hearing, Bushiri said he is certain that justice will prevail.
"This is why I came back to Malawi to prove my innocence in our courts. I believe our courts here are so independent and trustworthy as the justice system in South Africa is highly weaponized against the church, foreigners and those who are doing well," he said.
