CHRISTMAS Day was a day of mourning for the Matuka family from Sebokeng, Vaal.
This after their youngest son, Trevor Matuka (27) was shot and killed at his home when thugs robbed him of his tablet.
He had gone outside to buy cold drink from a spaza shop rented at his home. As he was about to make the purchase, two men showed up from nowhere demanding his tablet.
According to his mother Ursula Matuka (64), she said witnesses told her that Trevor had an argument with the two men. She was told it seemed as if they were playing but in the blink of an eye, they heard a gunshot. The suspects took his tablet and then ran towards the direction of an informal settlement outside Sebokeng.

"I heard my son calling his brother, asking for help. Unfortunately, his brother was in the toilet at the time when Trevor fell down on the doorstep. He already looked tired as he was trying to explain to me what had happened. I asked him if he knows the people who shot him, but he said no," she said.
Ursula said she hasn't slept or eaten since Monday, 25 December as thugs took away her last-born son, who was adored by kids.
"He always made sure that his nephew's had food on the table," said the devastated mum.
One of the community members alleged that over the weekend, four people were buried after being shot dead by thugs for their cellphones. He further alleged the two thugs target their victims at their gates at home and spaza shops, demanding cellphones. If one refuses, the thugs will shoot and kill.
He said criminals from Boiketlong informal settlement give the community of Sebokeng zone 10 sleepless nights, as they claim that people from zone 10 are rich and live a good life.
On Tuesday, 19 December Police Minister Bheki Cele visited Boiketlong and upon arrival, residents complained of gunshots which take place every night. They told him they don't feel safe as thugs in the township come into their houses and take whatever they want.
Sebokeng police spokeswoman Seargent Nthabiseng Mokhachane said cops are investigating the murder of a 27-year-old victim who was shot and killed during an armed robbery in Sebokeng zone 10 on Monday, 25 December.
