"I don't have money to start all over again."

A SHOP owned by uMyFriend goes up in flames.

The New Complex supermarket in Mamelodi East, Tshwane burnt on Saturday, 13 September, at about 6am. The firefighters were on the scene to extinguish the fire.

Shop owner Gezahegn Zeleke Hadebo told Daily Sun that the total damage and loss are estimated to over R700 000, adding that the fire ate all his stock.

"I don't have money to start all over again. I spent almost R3 million in this shop. I don't know the cause of fire," he said.

Samuel Ergicho said he's angry that his cousin's shop was destroyed by fire. "We don't have money. We are asking for donations," he said.

He said that his cousin has been operating for over three years. Some people said that they saw huge smoke and didn't believe that it was the supermarket which was on fire.

Tshwane Emergency Services Deputy Chief: Public Informaton and Liaison Officer Nana Radebe-Kgiba said: "The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department received a call through the Emergency Control Centre just before 7am. Three fire engines were dispatched and found the shop well alight. The cause of fire could not be determined because of the extent of damage. No fatalities or casualties were reported."
