RESDENTS of Ga-Sekgopo Village outside Modjadjiskloof, Limpopo, are elated.
This as electricity has been restored after a truck hit and knocked down an electricity pole carrying a transformer.
This incident happened on Sunday, 2 March, plunging over 100 households into darkness.
Villagers said they endured over five days with no electricity, even after reporting the issue to Eskom.
They accused the power utility of dragging its feet in restoring power amid their suffered.
Daily Sun ran a story on Friday, 7 March, headlined: Fallen Transformer Leaves Residents in the Dark!
Abahlali are now pleased the utility finally heard their plight and restored power on Saturday, 8 March.
"We don't know what would have happened if our situation wasn't highlighted in the People's Paper," they said.

"This isn't the first time we've reported issues to Eskom, and they took their time to respond. We're thankful this time Eskom acted swiftly after Daily Sun ran our story," said Queen Maloba (42).
Despite food having gone bad in fridges, residents are breathing a sigh of relief now that power is back on.
Resident Sello Masakane (35) said: "The situation left us starving as we no longer have money to buy food. We rely on electricity for our daily necessities."
Some villagers are happy their kids won't bathe in cold water before school, while others urge motorists to drive carefully around the village to avoid potentially fatal incidents.
