SOME City of Tshwane employees woke up to no salaries on Friday, 23 September.
This caused panic and frustration among the workers.
On Monday, 26 September, the ANC in Tshwane and the South African Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) criticised the city for non-payment of salaries.
ANC Greater Tshwane caucus spokesman Councillor Kgomotso Masilela ka Mahlangu said the municipality was under dire financial strain.
He said the ANC Tshwane caucus management was shocked by the minority coalition government faking the claim of running a responsive administration.
He said the municipality has in the recent past had its fleet parked due to the unavailability of diesel as it had no money to pay service providers for the supply of diesel.
However, city spokesman Lindela Mashigo, said the non-payment of salaries to some employees was as the result of a technical glitch on the bank's part.

"The glitch was occasioned by the public holiday on Saturday, 24 September. Absa has acknowledged the error from its part and is sorting out the matter," he said.
