Zandile, who joined Ukhozi FM in 2024, was fired by the station. However, reasons for her dismissal haven’t been shared.

She claimed she was unfairly dismissed by the station, and the matter is currently being challenged at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

Zandile said she’s free to talk as she’s now a free agent and not contracted to anyone.

She spilled the beans in a roughly 20-minute video posted on Facebook on Thursday, 29 October.

“It was difficult for me to speak all these months, all these times since I came at Ukhozi FM in 2024 because from the time arrived at Ukhozi FM hailing from Joburg, I experienced mistreatment and bullying at Ukhozi FM from some of Ukhozi FM employees.

“I kept quiet and endured because I was bound mostly by the contract itself and I was bound by policies. I was always under the hope that SABC would do something to protect my professional name and that day never came, unfortunately. I had to endure a lot of pain. I tried to reach out to some of the colleagues to assist. Some of them could assist to some degree but most of the time I had to endure real bullying and pain for doing my job,” she said.

Zandile said as a senior producer, she works in editorial where they’re governed by policies and rules.

“We also have a content plan that we all agree with, and therefore some people in editorial will not be happy with the decisions that I make. When I make decisions, I have to consider the company, the station, policies and rules, and also look at things like does this benefit us, does it not benefit us, who stands to gain from this, who stands to lose from this. It’s against our policy and will get us into trouble.

“Content goes to vetting and I immediately felt like I was unwelcomed because I was vetting and I was doing my job the best way I can in the vetting process which was expected of me,” she said.

When SABC head of communications Mmoni Ngubane was approached about Zandile’s allegations, she didn’t address them but maintained that she no longer works for them.

“The SABC once again reiterates that Ms Wardle is no longer in the employ of the organisation and has no further comment,” she said.
