AMAPIANO artist Sir Trill is back.
The John Wick hitmaker had taken a break from the music industry after claiming someone was blocking him from releasing new music.
Sir Trill, whose real name is Mzwakhe Zwane, spoke to Daily Sun about the challenges he faced and what he will do differently this time around.
"Being an artist isn't easy. Especially, as an independent artist, it's hard for anyone to do it. But I had a lot of people on my back, and I had to work as much as I could. Even when I wanted to quit, I couldn't because a lot of people depend on me," he said.
The musician said the past few months have been difficult.
"Emotionally, it was a lot. But I have a lot of people depending on me to make it, I had to let life continue to move. As an artist, nobody cares how you feel. I had to keep on working. I did it by working silently. While I was quiet, I did features. I also took a break from social media."
Sir Trill was once described as a diva by a lot of people. However, he said all that's in the past now.
"When you're an artist and you get big, sometimes you lose your way as mostly you're focused on making money. As a human being, you lose touch, that's why it's tough to come back because you need to find that space you were in before you made it. It's tough coming back.
"Going back and saying okay, I've made a name for myself, I'm established and need to go back and tap into who I am. I was able to do it because of my team. Everybody I had before I was famous are still with me. They remind me of who I am. That's how I was able to bounce back," he said.
He recently released a new song titled Impumelelo, featuring Msongi, De Soul & Tumisho.
He said it was inspired by his situation.
"Impumelelo was inspired by me watching the years when I kept quiet. I decided to observe everything and work in silence. I felt like doing that kind of sabotaged where I should've been right now.

"I went to studio and found people I featured there. I remember thinking if I didn't record a song that day, if I didn't make a comeback at the time, it would be over for me. I used to make songs from how I'm feeling, I remembered that and was inspired at that point in time.
"I needed to make people remember who Sir Trill is. Say something that people will relate to, music people know me for," he said.
At the moment, the musician is working on two new projects.
"An amapiano EP is coming because people have been asking for 'real' music. Everyone is putting it on me, they say they miss me. It's got a feel from Soweto. I named it Soul from Soweto.
"I'll also have a couple of hip-hop songs dropping because it's where I started. I have Flvme, Maglera, Zoocci Coke Dope, 25K all the OGs of hip-hop," he said.
Asked if he'd do anything differently this time, he said there were things he wanted to change.
"What I didn't do back then was open my own label. I put myself out there and helped people, but sadly, nobody wanted to help me when I needed it. So, I opened my own record label, Ghost Music Group.
"I'll also try to be more out there. I've noticed people know my music, but they want to know who Sir Trill is," he said.
