The legendary DJ, whose real name is Muntu Khoza, has been hospitalised for more than a week battling a heart condition and stroke at a hospital in Durban.
The 64-year-old DJ, who is known for playing classic romantic soul and R&B during performances, said although he's still in hospital, he's recovering well and can now eat.
DJ Muntu, who is also known as Masterblaster from Umlazi, south of Durban, said he's heartbroken that he will miss many of his gigs, but his life comes first.
"I'm not well and I'm hospitalised. The illness started as a minor illness as I was feeling pain in my feet, and I didn't realise that it was going to be worse.
"Doctors say I'm having heart-related problems. My feet were also swollen, and doctors say I also have kidney-related illnesses and I also suffered a minor stroke. Now I have spent more than a week because I was admitted on Tuesday, 12 August," he said.

He said what relieves him is that he sees a big difference because he can now eat food, as he was struggling to eat before.
"But the biggest challenge is walking, I'm still struggling to walk but I hope as time goes on, I will also be able to walk as usual.
"Because of this I'm not well, I will take time to disappear in the limelight and deal with my health and when I'm satisfied, I will be taking bookings again. There is no need for people to panic. I'm in good hands with the professional doctors," he said.
DJ Muntu was set to perform at The Union Restaurant and Lounge in Umlazi during The Blom Effect on Sunday, 24 August.
He said unfortunately, he won't be part of it because he's fighting for his life.
"The organisers paid well but it's beyond my control," he said.
DJ Muntu was a regular performer at Eyadini Lounge and close to its late boss Jabulani 'Mjay' Zama before Eyadini closed and reopened as The Union Restaurant and Lounge.
As Eyadini recently reopened as The Union Restaurant and Lounge, many people were looking forward to seeing DJ Muntu performing like before.
