Drip Footwear founder and businessman, Lekau Sehoana, has officially unveiled his latest sneaker line called KITE, and fans are already buzzing.

The 35-year-old Joburg-based entrepreneur shared the exciting news on social media, where his loyal followers celebrated the announcement.

Lekau, who grew up in Ivory Park, Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, is no stranger to turning dreams into reality.

He started with nothing but an idea and a passion for design.

Back in 2003, as a teenager, he stitched together old, torn sneakers and made them look brand new.

That small hustle grew into a big dream. In 2019, he launched Drip Footwear, which has since become one of Mzansi's most popular sneaker brands, worn by celebs, politicians, and everyday hustlers alike.

Now, with KITE, Lekau is taking things to the next level.

In his announcement, he explained the source of his inspiration.

"I'm so excited to share this new journey. A lot of people are asking me why KITE? Honestly, I had to tap into my childhood and find exciting moments. One of the things I found was us spending the whole day building kites and running around the hood," he wrote.

"One thing about a kite is if you don't build it right, it never takes off. You have to run fast against the wind while releasing the string to get it high up there. Once you get it right, it's a beautiful and refreshing process."

Lekau went on to link this lesson to business and sneakers.

"Nowadays, it's so easy to buy a KITE, like my brand lol. But the principle behind the scenes of building one also stays the same. You have to build it right. Also, you have to get it into the hands of a customer to get it to fly," he said.

Mzansi fans wasted no time hyping him up online.

Social media was abuzz with messages of support, with many saying they can't wait to cop the sneakers.

Lekau hinted that the sneaker will offer something fresh and unique to the local sneaker market while maintaining the bold and stylish Drip identity.

From jeans-turned-sneakers to boardrooms and big launches, Lekau's journey shows that with creativity, resilience, and vision, anything is possible.
