The much-anticipated Sun City Takeover, popularly known as FonCity, is set to return this November with an even bigger and more immersive experience.

THE much-anticipated Sun City Takeover, popularly known as FonCity, is set to return in November 2026, boasting an even bigger and more immersive experience.

Hosted by Homecoming Events, the youth-driven festival has grown into one of Mzansi's most sought-after lifestyle events, marking its seventh edition since inception in 2018.

Speaking at the media launch, managing director Athabile Ngxamngxa described the brand as a proudly youth and black-owned business focused on creating consumer-centric experiences and innovative marketing solutions.

"We are the beholders of the Sun City Takeover, fondly known as FonCity. The business is Homecoming Events and this platform allows us to build something meaningful for young people," she said.

Athabile reflected on the journey of the event, highlighting its resilience through challenging periods such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite strict regulations limiting attendance in earlier years, the team continuously adapted, transforming spaces, curating intimate experiences and learning the intricacies of hosting within a world-class resort environment.

This year's edition promises significant growth, with expanded capacity, more packages and access to all four Sun City hotels, along with additional vacation units.

Organisers have also introduced three-day clubs, a golf tournament in partnership with the Homecoming Foundation and the return of the iconic Valley of Waves experience.

"The mission has always remained the same - creating a safe, curated, and unforgettable experience," Ngxamngxa said.

"What changes is the scale. This year, we are going bigger and opening it up to more people."

Sun City Resort general manager Brett Hoppe reaffirmed the resort's commitment to partnering with Homecoming Events, while media host and DJ Ayanda MVP highlighted the unique appeal of the festival.

She noted how FonCity offers a refreshing alternative to traditional nightlife, blending music, leisure, and social connection in a vibrant outdoor setting.

Adding to the excitement, GalXBoy founder Thatiso Dube emphasised the cultural significance of the event.

"This initiative shows what happens when young creatives are given space to innovate. It's only going to grow bigger and better," he said.

With tickets selling out in just 30 minutes, anticipation is at an all-time high.

Set to take place from 6 to 9 November, FonCity continues to redefine premium youth experiences in Mzansi.
