The cast and crew of the SABC2 soapie have started bidding goodbye to the show.

As they film their final scenes, they've been sharing videos of heartfelt messages to their fans while saying goodbye to the show after 28 years.

The royal sons, Wavhudi Lidzhegu, Mufunwa Mudau and Rinae Owen Mmbobo, shared how they felt on their last day of shooting.

Wavhudi, who plays Vhutshilo Muvweho, said he was going to miss the show.

"I'm really emotional since it's the last day. I'm going to miss everybody, including all the departments. I was 17 when I joined the show. I think I've been here for seven or eight years. I feel so down, but I need to soldier on," he said.

"It's very sad and emotional. But it's a good thing. We got to experience being in a soapie. I know God will take something from you, but when he brings it back, it will be seven times more than that."

Rinae, who plays Muvhango Mukwevho, said he's proud of the show.

"In the general gist of it, it's really sad. But at the same time, it's good because we are celebrating a great show that has been brought into people's houses to show the ways of the Venda people.

"I think that was very good in terms of representing our culture and everything like that. So, to be honest, I'm not really sad that it's over. But I'm happy that it happened," he said.

The director, Uvelile Bangani, recalled some of the biggest scenes that he worked on.

"Working for Muvhango, I learnt a lot. It's an African show, so telling African stories was great. The death of Albert was one of those big things that I did when I started on Muvhango. That episode was just something else.

"Most of the location scenes that I did when Azwindini went to the forest. I was responsible for shooting that. The weddings, where Tenda was getting married. I was shooting Ndivaho and Sakhile getting married. One of the best moments was Mukondeleli's funeral. It was an amazing shoot. But everything we go to Venda, it's always amazing. Venda people are so welcoming," he said.

The final episode will end on 8 August, and it'll be replaced by a new show called Pimville.
