RIVER Square Mall employees and shoppers ran for safety after one of the shops inside caught fire on Monday afternoon, 30 October.
Firefighters rushed to the mall to extinguish the fire that broke out inside the Woolworths store.
According to one of the staff members, they don't know what started the fire.
Knowing that the shop was deep inside the mall, they just ran, leaving their bags inside as there was no more time to grab anything.
"The smoke filled the shop in seconds, and we didn't know which side of the shop it came from as nothing much was visible at that time," a worker said.

One of the shoppers told Daily Sun that she was busy shopping when the shop management announced that everyone inside the store should leave as the store was on fire.
Emfuleni Local Municipality's acting communication manager, Thabiso Radebe, told Daily Sun that Emfuleni firefighters stopped the fire at Woolworths before it spread to the entire building.
"It's alleged that the fire started inside the Woolworths storage room, and firefighters managed to stop the fire before it could spread wide. Nothing serious got burnt, and the cause of the fire is undetermined," he said.
