COUPLE spends the night behind bars following a shooting.
Police spokeswoman Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said the shooting occurred after an argument between a boyfriend and his girlfriend escalated in Wodehouse Street in Komani, Eastern Cape on Saturday, 7 March.
Mgolodela said the boyfriend allegedly fired shots randomly during the quarrel.
"The girlfriend contacted the police, but the boyfriend fled before the police arrived. The police were dispatched to the scene after receiving the call for assistance. However, the situation reportedly took a further turn when officers arrived," she said.
Mgolodela said the girlfriend allegedly swore at the officers and assaulted them when they attempted to respond to the incident.

"Police then contacted the boyfriend and instructed him to return to the scene. Both the boyfriend and girlfriend were subsequently arrested and are in police custody," she said.
She said no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
"Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing. SAPS has urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and to report any criminal activity to the authorities," she said.
Resident Thulisa Gogela said the shooting was a result of a drunk couple.
"This couple was mad. The guy was shooting left, right and centre while the girl was naked. She attacked police officers and refused to get dressed," said Thulisa.
