The mother said the other parents were shocked to hear that their son was involved in the matter.

A MUM is heartbroken after she recently heard about her daughter's rape ordeal.

The 16-year-old girl, who is mentally challenged, has allegedly been raped since March 2023.

However, the distraught mum (51) from Thina Sonke near Alberton, Ekurhuleni only learnt about her daughter's ordeal on Thursday, 16 November.

Learning the truth

She said on that day, her son had returned early from work when he realised there were people talking in their house.

When he got inside, he found his younger sister taking off her school uniform and when he asked who else was in the house, she pointed to a minor who was hiding behind the door.

"My son asked the boy why he was hiding and he revealed shocking details of the rape that had been happening since March," said the mum.

The mum said she received a call from her son while she was at work telling her to come home.

"When I arrived home, I found the boy and other neighbours. The boy told us he and another boy saw a man come out of my house in March and they decided to come in to check what was happening.

"The boy said they found my daughter lying on the ground and she told them an uncle had raped her," she said.

How her daughter suffered

But the boy didn't explain if they also raped her that day. However, he revealed that they would wait for the girl to come back from school and would get into the house when she opened the door.

"The boy mentioned they would ask my daughter to take off her school uniform and would take turns raping her. The boy told us this had been happening since March, but he does not know how many times they raped my daughter," said the mum, adding that the boy was alone when he was caught by her son.

"My daughter suffered a lot. They took advantage of her disability. They are my neighbours and know that my daughter is always alone during the day when my son and I are at work," she said.

Things got worse

To make matters worse, the mother alleged that one of the boy's parents wanted to offer her money to protect their son.

"He wanted to know how much I wanted to keep his son out of this case. I told him my daughter's pain and rape horror cannot be erased by money. He had no shame at all. My daughter suffered yet they want to pay for the damage caused," she said.

The mother said the other parents were shocked to hear that their son was involved in the matter.

"They said the law should take its course because their son never denied his involvement in my daughter's ordeal. I quit my job as a domestic worker because I can't leave my daughter alone anymore," she said.

The suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Monday, 20 November and the case was postponed to Monday, 11 December.
