Fong kong blue light gang hijack truck

COPS are searching for a blue-light gang that hijacked a truck full of maize on Thursday, 14 April.

COPS are searching for a blue-light gang that hijacked a truck full of maize on Thursday, 14 April.

The 49-year-old truck driver was stopped by two suspects, who were wearing police vests.

Because they were driving a VW Polo sedan with a blue light, the truck driver thought they were police officers.

But he was shocked when they pointed a gun at him, and then forced him to drive to Delmas.

The victim was forced to drive together with one of the suspects while the other one followed behind in the VW Polo sedan.

However, when the truck stopped, the driver managed to flee.

Police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora said the victim managed to run home, where he then contacted the police.

"The victim was driving along Ermelo Road in Springs, Ekurhuleni, when he was stopped by a white Polo with unknown registration numbers, fitted with blue lights," he said.

"He told us that the suspects, who were wearing reflector jacks, pulled him off the road and asked for a driving licence," he said.

"While he was looking for it, one suspect came to the passenger side and pointed a firearm at him. He then instructed him to open the door.

"He climbed into the truck and forced him to drive towards Delmas, where he managed to flee after the truck came to a stop," Ramphora said.

He said the value of the stolen maize was R50 000.

"The suspects also took his cellphone, and no shots were fired," he said.
