KAIZER Chiefs paid tribute to its past and embraced its future by hosting an exclusive event at the Galleria in Sandton, north of Joburg on Tuesday night, 25 July.
The football club officially launched its 2023/24 season kit.
This was after Chiefs' iconic brand and Kappa reunited and launched the new kit.
During the launch, the team announced their reunion with Kappa, who provided the club's kits for seven years between 1989 and 1996.
Amakhosi legends shared their moments with legendary soccer player Marks Maponyane, saying that they won all the trophies while wearing the Kappa jersey in 1989.
Doctor Khumalo jokingly said he thought that for a person to play for a senior team, they must have s-curl.
"In 1989, during my second year, the first Kappa jersey had a little shape like lighting, and while wearing that jersey, we wouldn't score less than two goals, and with all the jerseys that we used, we never lost any game against Pirates," he said.
"Not putting pressure on the current team, we have, however, collected three or four trophies a year wearing a Kappa."
Neil Tovey, known as Mokoko, said he is excited, and the launch is calling a bit of the past for them.

"In the early '90s with Kaizer Chiefs and Kappa, it was very successful times for us, and it turned Amakhosi around for life," he said.
Talking about the club's relationship with Kappa, the club's chairman, Kaizer Motaung, said: "I feel very excited about this new relationship because it's like we were meant to be together."
Jessica Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs marketing director, said: "We are thrilled to unveil our new jerseys in conjunction with Kappa.
"With the new kit designed to evoke a sense of the club's rich heritage and tradition, the home jersey is predominantly gold - symbolising Amakhosi's commitment to success and excellence, with bold black inflections accentuating the sleek design, which will be complemented by either black or gold shorts on the field."
The home kit pays tribute to Chiefs' prestigious legacy, instilling both players and supporters, who are always behind the team with a sense of pride.
Chiefs will debut the new home jersey on Sunday, 6 August, in their season opener against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
