KZN Premier Thami Ntuli has assured amaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini that KZN will be safe for his people.
Ntuli said this as he launched an intense campaign to root out all illegal foreign nationals and criminals in the province.
He also issued a stern warning to industries that hire undocumented foreigners, and warned that if caught, they'll face the music.
Ntuli was speaking during the first leg of the 40th anniversary of uMkhosi Womhlanga (Reed Dance) held at eMachobeni Royal Palace in Ngwavuma, northern KZN, at the weekend.
"I stand before you, my King, to ensure that we have all hands on deck to return KZN to its glory days when it was crime-free and when people didn't live in fear of criminals," said Ntuli.
He said the Community Safety unit in his office has started a campaign to evacuate all hijacked buildings in Durban.
"As of next week, I'll be finishing 100 days in office, I won't hide that we found a mess in the KZN government. The province has no money, but we'll ensure to turn the situation around because the people of KZN want to see service delivery, not complaints," said Ntuli.
He added that the level of crime against women and kids, especially against traditional leaders, is worrying.

"We've worked tirelessly to find solutions, and I'll present the solutions on 18 September, and they'll bring much-needed relief to many."
King Misuzulu also raised his concerns about guns that keep killing people and the high rate of rape and abuse of women in the province.
"This is painful because this province is leading in these crimes. The abuse of women, my father always talked about it, urging us men to play an active role in protecting women and children. The murder and rape of women is a sin to us as a nation," he said.
The King added that he is glad he's saying this in the presence of the KZN Premier and Zulu traditional Prime Minister.
"Why are we not known as a province that leads with agriculture and education? Why are we not leading with good things? I believe we'll discuss these issues and come up with solutions," said King Misuzulu.
The second leg of the Reed Dance will be hosted this coming weekend in Nongoma, north of KZN.
