DAD sent to jail for raping his daughter.

A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to two life imprisonment by the Thohoyandou High Court for repeatedly raping his 14-year-old biological daughter.

According to police reports, this took place between August and December 2021.

The perpetrator appeared before court on Thursday, 26 September, where he was also convicted for three years for kidnapping and 10 months for assault.

The court heard how the accused, who is also responsible for the murder of the victim's mum, dragged the young girl from her grandmother's house and forced her to live with her aunt where he repeatedly raped her and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter.

"The perpetrator continued to rape the victim until she fell pregnant. Unfortunately, the victim had a miscarriage and that's how she finally reported the matter to her elders who took her to the police," said the police report.

The Limpopo Department of Social Development condemned the incident.

"The issue of ex-convicts repeating crimes once they are out of prison remains a grave concern in our society. Convicts should only be let out when it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that they have been rehabilitated.

"What this kid went through is unimaginable, especially at the hands of an individual who was supposed to be a father figure to her. We're further saddened that this man previously killed the victim's mum. He doesn't deserve to be called a dad. Psychosocial support will be provided to the victim and affected family members," said department spokesman, Joshua Kwapa.
