AN employee at a municipality has been served with a protection order.
This after an Emfuleni municipal manager for parks and cemeteries served a protection order against a senior technician after he allegedly threatened to shoot her.
The cash-strapped municipality allegedly pays the senior technician a salary of half a million while he sits at home.
Since 2019, the employee has been sitting at home.
This information was disclosed by the Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mzi Khumalo, in a written response to Democratic Alliance (DA) questions in the Gauteng provincial legislature.
DA leader in Emfuleni, Kingsol Chabalala, said the unresolved dispute between the two employees was costing Emfuleni residents and should not be allowed to continue as it was leading to a breakdown in service delivery.

According to Chabalala, he told Daily Sun that the manager for parks and cemetery obtained a protection order against the department's senior technician after he allegedly threatened to shoot and kill her because he was constantly absent from work and she tried to warn him.
Chabalala said the dispute had been going on for four years, adding that Emfuleni's human resources department had failed to resolve the issue.
Chabalala said his party demanded that MEC Khumalo intervene urgently in resolving the dispute to prevent further loss of income by Emfuleni, and that the Gauteng provincial government should also take action to ensure that disputes between managers and subordinates are resolved immediately.
