Group unites abahlali through dance

TSHIKONA traditional dance and singing leaves the community excited.

Various cultures from across Mzansi entertained people in Jubilee Park in Sunnyside, Tshwane during RSA called Peace Dance on Saturday, 22 February.

Christopher Mamedzi, founder of RSA called Peace Dance, said they are trying to unite the community with the event.

"This is a way of showing that our cultural dances must not die. We want to preserve it for generations to come. We are also nurturing talent and fighting gender-based violence. Some artistic talent is discovered at this event," he said.

He said the event started in 2017 and they have it two times a month.

He said the event, which was started by Tshivenda, Bapedi and Shona guys, is currently dominated by Tshivenda, Xitsonga and Bapedi people.

Emmanuel Nemukula, manager of this traditional event, said it's an exciting moment for them.
