KAIZER Chiefs are targeting their third consecutive win in the Betway Premiership when they host Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, 19 August.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys started the season strong, claiming victories over Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United and they're looking to keep the momentum going.
Assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef admitted that Chiefs players sometimes struggled to maintain a winning attitude last season.
"Our target this season is to always keep our players mentally ready for the next game and to always try to take each game like a cup game. We decided to take it game by game. For example, tomorrow we face Richards Bay, and our focus is fully on that game. We try to finish that game and then think about the next one," said Youssef.
He said working on the team's mental strength is a priority, especially as Chiefs have secured back-to-back wins without head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is away in Tunisia attending to personal matters.

Youssef said: "When we finished last season, we analysed it and saw it was tough for us. We considered too many goals as our target in camp and pre-season. We worked on how to correct mistakes and improve our defence. After two games now and two clean sheets, I think we've succeeded in this area. There is individual quality, team quality. We know our mistakes and we're trying to correct them."
Nabi has been away from Naturena for almost two weeks after his wife was involved in an accident at home, missing the opening two league matches.
Youssef said the team has been in constant communication with the head coach.
"We are the technical staff. We are familiar with each other and work together. We keep in contact every day for every training session. We discuss all the plans and prepare for games together. Coach Nabi is not here physically, but he is with us. We work as a team. We help each other and we don't think about who is here and who isn't," said Youssef.
