It appears a storm might be brewing in the MK party.

Liberty Coal has laid criminal charges against Kego Mining and its directors over the alleged theft of 915,105 tons of coal worth more than R600 million through unlawful mining activities.

This is after he failed to appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 14 May 2026, on charges of intimidation.

The party confirmed receipt of his letter on Wednesday, 19 November.

At the time, Gigaba issued a statement promising that he would comply with police investigation.

The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA’s) Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (Idac) has confirmed that the ANC national executive committee (NEC) member hasn't been charged yet.
