House vocalist AzureDé knows this hustle all too well.
“One of the biggest challenges is staying focused through ups and downs in the industry. I’ve learnt to trust my journey, keep evolving and not allow setbacks to define me,” she said.
Despite the challenges, the 27-year-old singer is determined to touch hearts with her latest single, Imizwa (which means feelings in isiZulu).
The solo release is a personal expression about emotions people often struggle to communicate.
She wants music lovers to know that it’s okay to feel, cry, love, and even have a broken heart.
I drew from vulnerability and the reality that life comes with different seasons. I’m a strong person, but I feel things deeply, too. Sometimes, you win some and lose some, and that’s okay, she said.

AzureDé told Daily Sun her love for music was shaped by growing up in a musical family, with a dad who played the guitar and a mum who enjoyed different genres.
Now, known for her 3-Step sound infused with Afrotech, Afro-house, and R&B influences, AzureDé hopes Imizwa will connect with audiences across the emotional spectrum.
Whether it’s love, heartbreak, happiness or sadness, I want them to know that whatever they’re feeling is valid. Sometimes you just need a song that speaks to you, she said.
Looking ahead, her dream is to collaborate with other artists and take 3-Step music to international audiences, showing the world that African music has no limits.
