ACTOR MZI spreads his wisdom to inspire young talent across Mzansi
Renowned actor Mzi Makroti, celebrated for his roles as Nka on Isitha: The Enemy and Fistos on DiepCity, is on a mission to coach young talent across Mzansi.
Mzi criss-crosses the country offering workshops and sharing his wisdom with budding artists, with a special focus on kasi theatres.
The actor from Kagiso, Mogale City strongly believes these local stages are vital training grounds where many of today's acting greats took their first steps.
Mzi (45) encourages the youth to use the arts as a mirror for society, tackling issues that affect their communities, like drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
"These kids can tell beautiful stories through arts which can change the country," Mzi said.
"If young kids tell their peers what to do and what not to do, it becomes believable."
Last Saturday, Mzi graced Duduza in Ekurhuleni with his presence, running a workshop at the invitation of the Nigel Youth Development Foundation and Deboras and Esthers, a local arts organisation.
He called for more government support for the arts, describing it as a critical tool to address societal challenges.

Young participants from Izibusiso Arts Production shared their joy and gratitude.
