GAGASI FM's beloved presenter Heazy believes in doing what he loves while he's still able, and he considers that the best approach for him.

The 36-year-old presenter from New Germany, west of Durban, revealed that he'll take part in the iconic, internationally acclaimed Comrades Marathon for the first time in 2026.

Heazy, whose real name is Siyabonga Madida, said he wouldn't forgive himself for missing out on the Comrades Marathon while he's still able to run. He doesn't want to look back with regret if a condition later prevents him from taking part.

The Comrades Marathon is one of the biggest marathons on the continent, covering about 90km between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in KZN and attracting athletes from many countries.

Heazy, who presents After 8 is After 8 from Mondays to Thursdays (8pm-10pm) and Urban Top 40 on Saturdays, told Daily Sun he's trained hard and qualified to take part in the up-run marathon on Sunday, 14 June.

He's joining a long list of Mzansi celebrities who've taken part in this iconic marathon, including legendary kwaito musician Kabelo Mabalane and Uzalo actor Cebo Mthembu.

"I wouldn't forgive myself for not taking part in the biggest marathon happening in my province, KZN, which attracts many people from other provinces and countries.

"This will be my first time taking part, and it's an up-run. I know from my research it won't be easy, but it's a challenge like any other," he said.

Heazy said he's successfully completed several marathon qualifiers, including the most difficult one, the 42,2km Sapphire Coast Marathon in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.

He will still take part in other races, including the 52km Chatsworth Ultra Marathon on 19 April, in preparation for the big day.

"I'm not going to put myself under pressure. One thing I want to do is really enjoy myself because, more than anything, I feel like I'm finding myself in this running thing," he said.

"I won't set a time target, but I definitely want to finish before the 12-hour mark."
