MINISTER of Sport, Arts, And Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has got the moves.
He showed off his dance skills during a special rehearsal of the DStv Delicious Festival on Tuesday, 17 September 2024. This took place at the World of Yamaha Theatre in Joburg.
Joined by the Deputy Minister of the department, Peace Mabe, they listened to the melodic sounds of the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka and other artists who are billed to perform a tribute show this coming weekend.
The national department is sponsoring a special "30 Years of Creative Freedom" tribute show, which will take centre stage at this year's music and food festival.
The rehearsal offered an exclusive preview of the performances, providing McKenzie an opportunity to witness the preparations.
Some of the icons set to be honoured include the late Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Lucky Dube, Sibongile Khumalo, Ray Phiri, Johnny Clegg, Brenda Fassie, AKA, Lebo Mathosa, HHP, Mandoza and Riky Rick, among others.

McKenzie said this will not just be a normal event.
"This is legends honouring legends. You don't become a legend when you die but are a legend while you are still alive. Your music speaks for yourself," McKenzie said.
He was happy about what the organisers were doing.
"You guys have put together something tremendous, and I'm glad that you also listened to my plea to include more and different genres of music," he said.
He also mentioned that when the late Nelson Mandela was locked up, the voices of the artists rose.
"It's a difficult time in our country, and they were there for us," the minister said.
