MZANSI Magic's hit telenovela Genesis is about to receive a heavenly touch.
South Africa's beloved gospel legend, Dr Rebecca Malope, makes a special cameo appearance and fans are already praising this powerful crossover this week.
The multi-award-winning singer is no stranger to breaking new ground. Known as the "Queen of Gospel", Rebecca has been blessing Mzansi with her anointed voice for more than 35 years, releasing over 30 albums, selling millions of records, and collecting countless awards along the way.
Rebecca's rise from humble beginnings to becoming one of the most celebrated gospel artists on the continent is one of Mzansi's favourite success stories. The 57-year-old from Lekazi, Mpumalanga, has created music from Umoya Wami to Ngingavumi that has comforted, healed and inspired generations.
Now, she's adding acting to her impressive list of achievements.
Rebecca said that her cameo in Genesis felt like a natural calling.
"I was inspired by the story because it speaks directly to the industry that I'm already rooted in. It felt familiar. Stepping into acting has been refreshing and exciting. It's a new way to express myself and connect with people," she said.
She stated that the character she plays mirrors her own life's journey.

"The character's strength, faith and resilience really resonated with me. The themes of purpose, calling and staying grounded reflect so much of my own journey. So, stepping into the role felt very natural," she said.
For Rebecca, appearing on a telenovela is not a departure from her mission, it's an extension of it.
"My whole journey has been about storytelling through music, ministry and testimony. Acting is simply another beautiful way God has allowed me to share stories and reach people. It aligns perfectly with where I am in life, growing, learning and embracing new spaces while staying true to my foundation," she said.
Rebecca believes collaborations between musicians and television bring something truly special to the industry.
"Music brings emotion and identity to stories, while television gives artists a wider platform. When they come together, they elevate our industry and help us create uniquely South African and impactful content," she added.
Several South African singers have featured in the Mzansi Magic drama series Genesis, including Mmatema Moremi, who plays Basetsana, and Ishmael, who performed a duet with Mmarona.
Other featured singers include Gaosi Raditholo as Mmarona and Bonko Thabethe, who is also part of the show's cast.
