A terrifying video showing a man threatening women in Vlamo restaurant’s bathroom went viral over the weekend, sparking outrage across Mzansi.

The chilling footage, which has been widely shared on social media, shows the man making death threats.

“I’ll put a bullet in you now,” he is heard saying.

He then says: “I’ll murder you now and walk.”

At one point, he brags about being wealthy and claims he could buy the restaurant.

“I buy this restaurant. I own it,” he says in the video.

But now it seems the man has opened a can of worms for himself, and his company is in the firing line.

The man in the video has been identified as someone linked to Morial Infrastructure Group, which has been getting many tenders for roads and infrastructure projects.

MINISTERS ORDER PROBE

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy has instructed the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) Board to investigate whether Morial Infrastructure Group was lawfully appointed and whether it is fulfilling all its contractual obligations.

The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has also been directed to investigate the company’s grading allocations.

In a statement, Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson noted with concern allegations that Morial Infrastructure Group obtained multiple CIDB gradings, all on the same day.

“Further allegations suggest that the company may not have met the requirements for these gradings, which may subsequently have been used to secure contracts from various spheres of government,” he said.

The minister has directed the CIDB to immediately investigate the matter and report back to him at the earliest opportunity.

CASE OPENED

On Sunday, 20 September, Vlamo restaurant confirmed that they met with the affected parties and opened a case with the police.

“Our team, together with the affected parties, have formally reported the incident to SAPS. A case number has been issued.”

The restaurant said it is cooperating fully with authorities and will provide all relevant footage and assistance to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Vlamo also clarified that the man is not connected to the establishment.

“We must state clearly that the individual shown in the video is not the owner of the restaurant or an employee. He has no ownership or management role at the establishment. Any suggestion that this individual is the owner is incorrect.”
